Remember when you were young and you could literally sleep anywhere? And in any position? On a friend’s couch after a great party, with random cushions from the front room? No problem! Slept in a funny position with your arm stuck under your body? Absolutely fine!
Fast forward a few years and we can find ourselves wondering about hotel room beds 🤔….. Should I bring my own pillow? Will l be able to get a massage after that flight I took and how my knees are permanently at ninety degrees…. Everything aches….
What Causes Stiff Muscles?
Ligaments, the fibres that hold our bones together, shorten as we age. As such, our movement becomes restricted and may become painful. We may find we wake up stiff and creaky, as if we rusted overnight!
The less we move, the less we can move it. It really is a case of, ‘move it or lose it…’
Is Pain and Stiffness Inevitable In Old Age?
Aging and stiffness seem to go hand and hand… inflexible muscles and joints are just part of getting old, right? There’s nothing I can do….
Well… not on my watch! I want to do as much as I can to move with strength and flexibility into my old age. Frankly, this is why I created my fabÜ JOINT·BONE·MUSCLE blend to help us feel limber as we age!
Mobility means we can live independently for longer. It means we don’t need to be afraid of stairs or travel to locations with hills and steps.
What Can Stretching Do To Improve Your Health?
Stretching can improve the health of your muscles by making them less achy and increasing your flexibility. More flexibility translates into more mobility and less likely to have falls and injuries. Here’s FIVE easy stretches you do every day here 💜
Stretching Helps Your Back
Until you’ve pulled a muscle in your back, you don’t realise how many everyday movements require your back to be pain free. Even breathing hurts!
Stretching for Brain Health
Increased flexibility means better blood circulation. There is a direct correlation between blood flow and brain health as we need oxygenated blood to get to all our organs, our brain being the central engine that runs our entire body.
All my fitness 🤸goals are geared towards keeping myself living independently for as long as possible, so I can tie my shoes, pick up my dog’s poop (love you Carlo!) and dance the night away with friends!
So, let’s keep our stretches going every day so we can take part in life, not be apart from it.
