Cordyceps mushroom
Cordyceps (Ophiocordyceps sinensis) has been used for over a thousand years across the world. This fungus is found naturally in the Tibetan Plateau and neighbouring regions, including China, Nepal, Tibet, and India. In the wild, Cordyceps is a fungus that grows on caterpillars high in the Himalayan mountains. We cultivate our cordyceps on a vegan substrate consisting of rice and other nutrients, so our product is vegan friendly.
Cordyceps are brown or bright orange in colour. They are a beautiful and unusual looking mushroom. The fruiting body of cordyceps look like long finger-like projections emerging from the substrate on which it grows.
We really love the beta-glucans, polysaccharides, and sterols that are found in cordyceps mushrooms.
Chaga mushroom
Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus) has been used for centuries in Siberia and other parts of Asia. Traditionally, chaga was grated into a fine powder and brewed as a herbal tea. Chaga grows mainly on the bark of birch trees in cold climates, such as Northern Europe, Siberia, Russia, Korea, Northern Canada and Alaska. Chaga produces a woody growth, or conk, which looks similar to a clump of burnt charcoal. The inside has a soft core with a bright orange colour.
We included Chaga into this beautiful blend due to their wonderful phytochemicals (beta-glucans, polysaccharides, and sterols).
